According to Inverclyde Now, three cruise ships are heading to Glasgow (NOT GREENOCK) for lay-up.

The first will be Azamara Club Cruises' Azamara Pursuit (formerly P&O's Adonia/Princess Cruises' Royal Princess/Swan Hellenic's Minerva II/Renaissance Cruises' R8) currently on her way from her Miami anchorage and expected to arrive at KGV Shieldhall on 01 June.

The names of the other two are not known

Now off the Galloway coast, so it looks like a fairly early arrival on the Clyde tomorrow.

I've been watching it and it's been travelling progressively slower from when it was off the south of Ireland. I'm guessing this is deliberate to ensure correct timings for arrival? But feel they could have arrived earlier as was suggested here

Are these two heading for Glasgow as well?

Journey seems to be awaiting a northbound Suez Canal transit and Quest is heading for Gibraltar.

Would appear final destinations still unknown, although Gibraltar is current.

As of 1930hrs Friday 11th June:-
AZAMARA JOURNEY –
Not long out of the Suez Canal, showing destination Gibraltar - ETA 18th June 1100hrs, currently doing 14.7knots.
AZAMARA QUEST –
ETA Gibraltar 12th June 0430hrs – currently doing 8.6knots – showing destination Gibraltar.

Think we need to wait and see…….

I agree, Allan. It's simply pure speculation on my part, but it would be good to see the three of them in Glasgow. Except that is if you were Azamara Club Cruises!

There is no room at Southampton which can’t even take three of the P&O vessels. Oceana is in Newcastle, Aurora is in Dover and Arcadia is either in Dover or Poole.

If I was a betting man (which I am not) I would probably still wager that Azamara Quest will eventually sail onwards to Glasgow, unless she is going to one of the Nab anchorages which seems unlikely.

Azamara Quest has just sailed from Southampton bound for Glasgow. She is due to dock here on Friday 19th at 7.45pm. Azamara Journey is presently heading across the Mediterranean bound for Gibraltar. I suspect that she will be coming here also.

Well done Clydesider, you win your bet – AZAMARA QUEST now heading for Glasgow – (wonder why she had a few hours stop-off at Southampton?)

We now await the final destination of AZAMARA JOURNEY, currently showing destination Gibraltar, doing 14.7 knots (!) due there 18th June…….

Agree would be good to see all three in KGV.

Hi Rab - take it you mean AZAMARA JOURNEY now bound for Glasgow? AZAMARA QUEST is currently about 50 miles east of Milford Haven, heading for Glasgow - I know, I've got to double check which "AZAMARA" I'm looking for!

Will be good if all three end up in KGV dock.

Cheeky question - anyone know the costs involved in this exercise? Would imagine it's not cheap to have a vessel moored dockside for a period of time.....

Apologies Allan I did mean Journey. Like you it’s difficult keeping track of the three at one time. Re the cost of them being in Glasgow, Azamara website seems to show that they intend to resume cruising at the end of July. That may change as P&O say they are not resuming until October and Cunard November.

I omitted to mention in my post last night that it was a noisy arrival as she sounded her horn numerous times to acknowledge those who had come down to watch her progress not only from on the Erskine Bridge but also from both banks of the river.

Thanks too to Riverman – great pics of more activity (at last) on the Clyde - and Clydesider, nice to hear of such communication between ship and shore....

So, two out of three AZAMARA cruise ships now docked in KGV – we await the arrival of AZAMARA JOURNEY – currently starting to cross the Bay of Biscay, ETA Glasgow 1000hrs 23rd June.

Apparently there is still preparation to be carried out at KGV, so arrival delayed, a bit odd as they have known for a while she was arriving.

AZAMARA JOURNEY passing Braehead Shopping Centre on her way to lay up at KGV Dock, Shieldhall during my lockdown shopping trip today.

Another noisy arrival with her horn sounding at various intervals as she made her way upriver.

Note the red hand waving on the top deck!
